The DrGraeme General Purpose massager
Status: In production, due in Australia and Europe in April
The pictures on the right shows the factory prototype of our new General Purpose Massager. It has:
a more powerful motor a larger area hammer head a sliding variable speed control so you can set it to any speed you want
a second softer head for more comfortWe've been using the prototypes in clinic for a while now and note the following improvements.
being able to massage larger areas at once you can complete the task twice as fast having a variable speed control you can use it in a more relaxation mode if you wish the second softer head provides extra comfort (It has ample power to still penetrate well with the softer head) because of the larger head it tends to sit flat which makes it easier to use.Do you want to be notified when it is available?
If you wish to be notified when this machine is available email us and we will put you on our notify list.
Update: 16th August 2011
The factory have made the new molds and are sending me a sample machine for approval. Allowing for a short test, electrical certification, production then shipping that puts them in Australia late October/early November, and Europe about two weeks later.
When the new machine is available we will continue to supply the current Deep Tissue Massager. It is still a superbly built machine that's easy use and does a fantastic job for a very reasonable price. The newer machine will sell for a slightly higher (yet to be determined) price.
Update: 23rd September 2011
The factory have built some test machines with the new molds. These are on their way here by courier. You can see some pictures of them on the right.
You can see that the front of the machine has changed to accomodate the new larger heads. The machine has the plastic dimpled head attached, with the rubberised head next to it.
Once we've checked the the test machines it's off to the laboratory for the electrical testing needed to certify them as meeting the appropriate standards, then off to production.
Update: 5th October 2011
Standard motors do not run at the appropriate speed for massagers so we are having a motor factory custom build suitable motors that run at the best speed for massage. To get these motors we're working with a high quality motor manufacturer, and have to buy 5000+ motors.
They should be great, but it's turning out to be a slower process than we anticipated. It looks like we can't get the machines now comfortably before Christmas so we're delaying release until early next year and using the extra time to get everything absolutely right.
Update: 9th October 2011
It looks like our new custom built motor will be worth the wait. We were after a commercial grade 30w motor to give our new massager enough power, but the standard 30w motors run about 20% too fast for best massaging.
Our custom built motor will run about 20% slower (the best speed for massage) but have about 20% more torque (turning force), plus several quality improvements. To put it into non-technical terms they're making the motor more like a deisel truck or tractor engine rather than like a petrol car engine. It will have a lot more "grunt", be happy running at the lower massage speed, and last a very long time.
Update: 18th October 2011
It's here:-) We've got our prototype with a sample custom built motor. It's every bit as good as I hope, and well worth the extra effort. Bring on electrical certification and production.
Update: 26th December 2011
We've started production, due to be completed before 16/2/12. This will get the finished machines into Australia about second week in April, and in the UK for European distribution about two weeks later (longer boat ride to UK).
