How to use the massagers

Always get a professional diagnosis first (Referral sheet to give practitioner)

Why do you get a professional diagnosis first?

  1. As discussed in the safety and warnings page you need to make sure it is safe to massage.
  2. From the diagnosis your professional can work out how you can get the maximum benefit from your massager plus what else needs to be done to assist in your recovery.

Who should do the diagnosis?

Although masseurs understand (hands on?) massage, professionals such as medical practitioners, chiropractors, osteopaths and physiotherapists have had extensive university training and a far better understanding of the body as a whole.  For anything other than very simple problems you are better off being diagnosed by one of these people.  I've seen far too many cases where masseurs examine muscles and miss other important things, causing their patients a lot of problems .
