Massage safety

Always consult a licensed health care professional prior to using massager Referral sheet to give practitioner

For most these massagers will be incredibly safe and provide huge benefits.  However, like most health care methods there's always a risk.  For example,  If you massage deep vein thrombosis (what you can get after a long aeroplane flight) you can kill someone, and I've seen where some over enthusiastic but under trained football trainers have massaged a corked thigh and massively increased the internal bleeding.

Also, in many cases muscle tightness and spasm are the bodies attempt to protect something.  It's usually a damaged joint, but can be something like an infection or a problem with an internal organ. You don't want to be massaging the muscle tightness and failing to identify the problem causing it.

Most consumer massagers provide you a list of conditions and situations where massage should be avoided then let the user make the decision whether to massage or not.  However, because some of those things need a professional to diagnose, and because our machines are powerful and have an excellent penetrating effect we insist that you always leave the decision to to massage or not and where to massage to a licensed health care professional

We provide a similar list (see below), but use the list as general information only to assist in discussing things with your professional in an informed manner. It should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional advice.

  • You shouldn't massage on varicose veins or swollen or inflamed areas

  • You shouldn't massage over skin disorders or open wounds

  • You definitely make your adviser aware you  are pregnant or suffer diabetes.

  • You should not get massage if you have tuberculosis, tumours, phlebitis, hemorrhage or thrombosis

  • You should not massage on acute injuries, bruised skin or sprains

  • You should not use over pacemakers

  • You shouldn't use the infrared if you are sensitive to heat.

  • You should definitely make your professional aware if you have a heart or cardiovascular condition

  • You should be checked out if you have recently been on a long aeroplane flight
