Please allow me to share with you the biggest need I had that prompted me to design my own massagers
Chronic myofascial changes such as (myofascial) trigger points were always a major challenge when managing musculoskeletal conditions. A hand full of therapy sessions often gives relief, but returning the tissues back to normal requires regular therapy over a long period of time. Of course whether I did it or referred to a massage therapist this was usually beyond the resources and motivation of most patients. We have probably all seen the consequences. The patients feel better, but these issues continue to affect biomechanics and posture, and relapses are inevitable. Of course regardless what I’d told the patient it was “Graeme didn’t fix it”.
With a really effective hand held massager and me providing the advice patients could have supplementary quality massage therapy at home, allowing them to get the regular applications over time they needed. This had the secondary benefit of allowing me to focus on higher value skills during consultations. Bottom line: patients got far better long term results and were much happier.
Please see this video where we summarise how we did this.
